The Dreams Deferred Band is a self-contained band consisting of 8 members. They are: (l) Jerry Brooks, Lead Vocals, Lead and Rhythm Guitar; (2) Malcolm Brooks, Lead and Background Vocals and Percussion; (3) James Francis, Vocals and Bass Guitarist; (4) Labarry "Lumumba" Gordon, Percussionist Extraordinaire and Vocals; (5) Gregg Goode, Drummer, (6) Bill Malone, Vocals and Keyboards and featuring (7) Larry Holmes on Lead Vocals and (8) "Yamina" female Vocalist. We formed in the latter part of 1996 with four members and have evolved into a 9 piece unit.
The band specializes in Motown, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Memphis sounds that span 35 years at least. Some of the artist we do are the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Delfonics, Spinners, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, Heatwave, Four Tops, Luther Vandross, Earth Wind and Fire just to name a few. In addition we also perform some of the artist of the day.
We take pride in our vocal harmonies and well-rounded musicianship. Our selections are entertaining and provoke audiences to dancing and having an enjoyable evening to remember.
Our performances have been enjoyed by many at social functions, eateries, wedding receptions, benefits and gatherings all around the metropolitan Detroit area.
We've performed for the MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION, EPILEPSY FOUNDATION, and TEAMSTERS UNION just to name a few.
